Ping
Run an online ping test using IPv4 or IPv6. Check ICMP response times and packet loss for a public domain or IP address.
How to use Ping
Enter a public IP address or hostname, complete verification, then select Run Ping. The test sends four ICMP probes. Supports public IPv4 and native IPv6 addresses. For a domain, choose Auto IP, IPv4 or IPv6; Auto prefers IPv4 and uses IPv6 for IPv6-only domains. IPv6 connections require IPv6 connectivity at the test location.
Understanding the results
Compare reply times and packet loss. A missing reply can mean ICMP filtering rather than an outage. Use Traceroute to investigate the route and HTTP Status to check a web service.
Can I ping an IPv6 address online?
Yes. Enter a public IPv6 address or choose IPv6 for a domain. The test uses ICMP from the test location, not from your device.
Does packet loss mean a website is down?
Not necessarily. A firewall may block ICMP while HTTPS remains available. Check HTTP Status for the website response.
Why does Ping fail when a website still opens?
A website can accept HTTPS connections while its firewall ignores ICMP requests. Run HTTP Status to check the web response, then use Traceroute to investigate the network path.
